A community coming together to fight a common enemy. That's exactly what the Elvin Howard Sr. Pancreatic Cancer Foundation is all about. Named after Elvin Howard Sr. , who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2017, the foundation aims to raise awareness and support for those affected by this devastating disease.
Elvin Howard Jr. , son of the foundation's namesake, shared that the foundation's mission is personal. His father was an employee at WBRZ and succumbed to pancreatic cancer. Now, the foundation is on a mission to make people understand that pancreatic cancer can be fought and won.
Coming up, the foundation has two exciting events planned. On Saturday, November 2, they'll host a 5k run and one-mile walk in Baker. Why not lace up your running shoes and join the cause? If you prefer to sit back and enjoy, mark your calendar for Friday, November 8. That's when the foundation will hold its eighth annual fundraiser at Boudreaux’s Catering.
Southern University's head football coach, Terrence Graves, emphasized the importance of early detection. He lost his mother to pancreatic cancer in 2017. Graves believes that regular doctor visits are crucial. It's all about giving people a fighting chance against this deadly disease.
