Severe weather in the Kerch Strait, between Russia and annexed Crimea, has left two Russian cargo ships in trouble. One ship, Volgoneft 212, ran aground and its crew of 13 was evacuated after a rescue helicopter arrived. Unfortunately, one person lost their life. Another ship, Volgoneft 239, with 14 crew members on board, drifted off course after damage. The Russian emergency ministry is on the scene with over 50 specialists and 11 pieces of equipment. They're also assessing the risk of an oil spill.
A video shared on Telegram channels shows a ship split in half, with water flooding the deck and crew members wearing life jackets. The video's location hasn't been verified. Ukraine often targets Russian infrastructure near Crimea, but these incidents don't seem to be related to the conflict.
