Scorpions drummer Mikkey Dee recently shared his battle with sepsis, a severe blood infection. Following his hospitalization, the band has decided to postpone their Las Vegas residency, which was initially set to start on February 28 and run through March 11. This residency was part of the band's 60th-anniversary celebration at PH Live at Planet Hollywood, with Buckcherry as the supporting act. The new dates are now planned for August 2025. The band announced this decision on social media, emphasizing that Mikkey's health is their top priority. They expressed hope for his speedy recovery and looked forward to performing again soon. The rescheduled shows in Las Vegas will run from August 14 to August 23, and previous tickets will be honored. Despite the postponement, the band still plans to return to the stage for a show in Mexico City on March 15.
Mikkey Dee first opened up about his health issues in early January. He had been hospitalized due to a blood infection that started as a simple sprain but quickly worsened. He described his ankle swelling up and changing shape, resembling an overcooked ham. Dee was rushed to the hospital and underwent three surgeries to remove the infected tissue. He admitted that he was close to losing his life, comparing it to playing drums with his late Motörhead bandmate Lemmy Kilmister in heaven. Mikkey Dee joined Scorpions in 2016 after Motörhead disbanded. He has only played on one of Scorpions' albums, "Rock Believer, " which was released in 2022. The delay in the Las Vegas residency underscores the importance of health and well-being for the band and their commitment to their drummer's recovery.
