Smart Parking Made Easy for Young Drivers

Wuhu, ChinaMon Apr 27 2026
OMODA & JAECOO launched a new parking system called VPD during the IBS Chery International Business Summit in Wuhu, China. The event attracted almost a hundred participants from overseas markets such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Thailand. The system is designed to help drivers—especially young people—who struggle with tight parking spots and complex road conditions. VPD lets a car come to you or park itself with just one tap on a smartphone app. The first global test proved that the technology can navigate busy parking lots, avoid obstacles and find suitable spots without any driver input. The demo was shown to a worldwide audience of media, dealers and key opinion leaders. During the test, drivers were asked to call their car or wave it away. In the “come when called” test, the vehicle drove out of a parking spot and reached the requested location while avoiding traffic. In the “leave when waved” test, the car searched for an empty spot, repositioned itself and parked in tight or angled spaces.
A human driver with 15 years of experience was also challenged to park in the same difficult spots. The comparison measured time, steering adjustments and final positioning. VPD finished faster, with fewer corrections and a more precise parking spot than the human driver. The results suggest that VPD can reduce stress for drivers who lack advanced parking skills, allowing them to focus on other tasks while the car handles the tricky part. OMODA & JAECOO plans to expand this technology to more markets and add further smart features. The system is meant for enclosed parking lots only; drivers must stay alert and be ready to take control if needed. The company hopes that this innovation will make city driving smoother for the next generation of motorists.
