Smash-and-Grab Crime in Novato: East Bay Man Caught

Early on a Saturday morning, a car rammed into the Specialty Tobacco Outlet in Novato, California. The action was part of a burglary, and an East Bay man was later arrested in connection with the crime. The incident took place around 3 a. m. at 925 Diablo Avenue.
Police reviewed video footage and spotted five individuals and two vehicles involved in the crime. They initially pursued the suspects along Highway 101 but had to abort the chase due to high speeds.
Later, a suspect was apprehended after a crash in Richmond. Jeremy Vernchan Fong, a 26-year-old from Oakland, was taken into custody. He faces various charges, including evading police, burglary, hit-and-run driving, conspiracy, vehicle theft, and vandalism. Fong’s bail was set at $70,000 by the Marin County Jail.
Despite the arrest, the investigation is ongoing, and no other suspects have been caught yet.
