In Macomb and St. Clair counties, the weather is taking a turn for the worse. Starting Sunday evening at 6 p. m. and lasting until early Monday morning, a winter weather advisory is in place. This means snow is on the way, and it's not just a light dusting.
Lake-effect snow bands are expected to form Sunday evening and stick around throughout the night. Some areas could see 2 to 4 inches of snow, but don't be surprised if certain spots get even more. It's not just snow that's coming, though. Rain and snow showers will switch to all snow late Sunday night, thanks to a change in wind direction.
This isn't unusual for this time of year. Lake-effect snow is common, and it often brings a blast of cold air with it. Temperatures will drop into the mid-30s Sunday night and keep falling into the low to mid-30s by Monday. That's not all. Gusty winds will make it feel even colder, with wind chills in the single digits to low teens.
So, what does this mean for you? If you have to be out and about Monday morning, make sure to dress warmly. Bundle up in layers, wear a hat and gloves, and be careful on the roads. Snow and ice can make driving tricky, so take your time and stay safe.
