The closure follows a failed government bailout offer that never materialised, even after President Trump proposed a taxpayer‑funded rescue plan. Without the promised aid, Spirit could not cover its mounting debts and rising fuel costs that surged during recent conflicts. Since the pandemic, Spirit’s finances have deteriorated sharply.
