Spy Plane's Historic Flight Along Russia's Border

A spy plane flying from Greece to Finland, all in one go. That's exactly what a UK Royal Air Force RC-135W did earlier this month. This plane, known as Rivet Joint, can sniff out electronic signals like radar and communications. It started its journey from Greece, then passed through Bulgaria and flew over the Black Sea. Along the way, it even stopped for a quick refuel over Poland, courtesy of a US Air Force tanker.This flight was special because it covered the entire eastern border of NATO countries. That's from the Mediterranean Sea all the way to the Arctic Ocean. The plane even flew over the Baltic states and the Gulf of Finland. Why is this a big deal? Well, it shows that the UK and its allies can keep a close eye on what's happening along NATO's borders. The war between Russia and Ukraine has made these borders more important than ever. More Russian military planes are being spotted near NATO countries. So, this flight was a way to show that NATO is watching and ready to respond.
