Stars Take the Ice: A New Docu‑Series About Vancouver’s Junior Hockey
Vancouver, CanadaThu May 28 2026
Michael Bublé, the hit‑making singer from Burnaby, and Drew Scott, known for his home‑renovation shows, have joined forces to launch a six‑episode docu‑series on Prime Video. The series focuses on the Vancouver Giants, a junior hockey team in which both men hold ownership shares.
The show follows teenage players who dream of reaching the NHL. It captures their hard practice sessions, intense games and the tough choices they must make as they balance sport with life. Bublé first invested in the Giants back in December 2008, partnering with majority owner Ron Toigo. Scott became a part‑owner more recently, in September 2023.
While Bublé continues his music career and TV judging gigs, he now watches the Giants from a different angle. Scott, who grew up in Vancouver and produces hit shows like Property Brothers, brings his media experience to the project. Together they aim to give viewers an inside look at junior hockey’s ups and downs.
The series could follow a similar path to the popular “Welcome to Wrexham, ” which spotlighted Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney running a UK soccer club. If “Hometown Giants” succeeds, it may inspire more celebrity‑led sports documentaries.
“Fall 2026 is the target launch date on Prime Video, ” said a spokesperson. The series promises to blend local pride with the universal appeal of sports drama.
