Storm Hits Western Forsyth County, Bring Strong Winds and Hail
Western Forsyth County, Winston-Salem, USAFri May 22 2026
A fast‑moving thunderstorm is heading northeast through western Forsyth County and will stay in the area until about 3:30 p. m. local time. The cloud system is traveling at roughly 25 miles per hour and will bring winds that can reach over 30 miles per hour.
The areas most likely to feel the storm include Winston‑Salem, Lewisville, Rural Hall, Donnaha, Pfafftown and Stanleyville. People in these towns should be ready for a sudden burst of wind that could knock down branches or toss unsecured objects.
In addition to the strong gusts, the storm can drop pea‑size hailstones about a quarter of an inch across. The hail may lightly damage plants or other vegetation, but it is not expected to cause major structural harm.
If you are outside when the storm arrives, find a sturdy building or other safe shelter as soon as possible. Secure any loose items—like lawn furniture, signs or tools—to prevent them from being blown away.
