Storms Set the Stage for a Warm Weekend
Michigan, USAFri Mar 27 2026
A sharp temperature drop of almost 40 degrees happened overnight, leaving many areas below freezing by morning. Thursday’s highs hovered in the low 70s east and south of I‑94, but tonight’s lows slipped into the 30s, with some places near 40 and others in the 20s, especially around the Thumb. Wind speeds of about 20 mph make it feel even colder, and light snow could fall tonight. A thin layer of snow might stay in the Thumb.
The weekend looks brighter and drier. High pressure will sit over us after a cold front moves west, bringing cooler air from the north. Even though temperatures will stay below average on Saturday, plenty of sunshine is expected to kick off the weekend. The high pressure will shift toward the South‑Central U. S. , letting warmer air drift in.
Next week, the pattern will change. Temperatures should rise into the 60s and several showers are likely to appear. The weather will be more active as clouds move in from the west and bring rain.
