Stream Fight Over Money: A Streamer's Take on the Pushy Fundraiser
Sat Apr 11 2026
The big charity stream started in April 2025. YouTuber MrBeast launched a long live session on Kick to raise five million dollars for clean water. The twist was simple: the show would keep going until all money was collected.
He didn’t do it alone. Popular gamers like Adin Ross and XQC joined him. They created a “punishment board. ” When the money hit a target, the team had to do things like cover themselves in snakes or wrestle with oil. These moments were meant to draw viewers and donations.
Big names were also pulled in. Billionaire Ken Griffin donated over two million dollars. MrBeast called a list of people who promised to give but hadn’t yet, including rapper Young Thug and an NFL player known as TJ. He even called them on the phone to urge a contribution.
One of those calls included Twitch star Jynxzi. Alongside YouTuber Logan Paul, they talked about whether Jynxzi could donate a million dollars. Paul doubted it, saying Jynxzi had little cash on hand. MrBeast and XQC then challenged Paul to match any amount Jynxzi gave. After Jynxzi donated one hundred thousand dollars, Paul was surprised but agreed to stay committed.
Eight months later, Jynxzi spoke out on his own stream. He called the event one of the most uncomfortable and weird experiences he’d ever had. He criticized how aggressive the fundraiser was, especially the pressure to donate in front of thousands of viewers.
Other creators shared similar feelings. Fortnite streamer Nick Eh complained about the pushy tactics. XQC, who had been on stage during the stream, said he told MrBeast that the methods were too much and not okay. He felt that MrBeast didn’t read the room properly, making everyone uncomfortable.
Jynxzi summed it up: “We’re all donating, but he gets all the credit. It feels like a forced crowd‑sourced push. ” He added that while the money goes to a good cause, the way it was raised bothered him.
