Sudan's Young Minds in Peril: The Education Crisis Unfolding

Sudan is facing a huge problem. Many kids are missing school because of the war. More than eight million children have lost over 500 days of learning since the conflict started in April 2023. This is worse than the school closures during the COVID pandemic. The war has destroyed many schools. Some are now being used as shelters for people who had to leave their homes. In North Darfur, only a few schools are still open. Teachers are also leaving because they haven't been paid in months.The situation is critical. Without help, the education system in Sudan could collapse. This would leave children vulnerable to exploitation and even recruitment by armed groups. Recently, drone strikes have hit the city of al-Obeid, causing many civilian deaths. Aid groups are calling for urgent help for cities like al-Fashir and Kadugli, which are facing famine. The international community needs to act fast. Children in Sudan need support to continue their education and have a better future.
