Tech and Women's Perspectives on Abuse

This: a woman in Bangladesh who watches TV or uses a computer weekly might have a different view on whether it's okay for a husband to hit his wife. Sounds surprising, right? A recent study found that tech access can indeed change women's minds about intimate partner violence (IPV). Over 20, 000 women were surveyed for this study. Shockingly, about 1 in 5 thought wife-beating was justified in some cases. But here's where it gets interesting. Women who had computers or TVs at home were less likely to agree with that idea.
Now, not all tech was equal in this effect. Computers and TVs seemed to make the biggest difference. Why? Maybe because they expose people to messages about equal rights and healthy relationships. So, could raising awareness through these platforms help change attitudes about IPV? It's something to think about.
