Tesla's Optimus robot has faced skepticism, but Wall Street analysts are starting to see its potential. John Murphy from Bank of America (BofA) recently increased Tesla's stock price target to $400, recognizing Optimus as a real and promising project. Currently, Optimus helps sort Tesla's 4680 cells without human intervention. The company is experimenting with different uses, like catching a tennis ball, to improve the robot's design.
Despite only using a small portion of Tesla's computing power, Optimus is set to grow. Tesla plans to deploy 1, 000 Optimus robots by the end of 2025. This could boost the robot's capabilities and production efficiency by 2026. Murphy thinks this could help reduce costs. Optimus uses AI and a neural network to navigate and perform tasks, like picking up an egg gently with its tactile sensors.
Deutsche Bank predicts Optimus could bring in $10 billion annually by 2035, selling 200, 000 units at $50, 000 each. It's clear that while Optimus is still in development, its future looks promising.
