Texas Democrats: Different Styles, Same Goal

Texas Democrats are gearing up for a big race. Two candidates, Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico, are competing to challenge the Republican hold on the Senate. Both want to win, but they have different ways of doing it. Crockett is known for her bold and fiery style. She has gained attention through viral moments on social media. She believes in fighting back against the system and is not afraid to take risks. She says, "I will do the edgy things, the things that the political consultants will never tell you to do, because right now, people are hurting. " Crockett also thinks that whoever goes to the US Senate should be ready for a tough battle. Talarico, on the other hand, has a more subdued approach. He talks about his faith and tries to attract voters from across the political spectrum. He believes that the real fight is not between left and right, but between the top and the bottom. He says, "We will not win this race in November with the same old politics of division. "Both candidates agree that immigration is a big issue. They criticized the Trump administration's handling of immigration, especially after a border agent shot and killed a protester. Crockett called US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) a "rogue organization, " while Talarico accused agents of executing a man in broad daylight. When asked about abolishing or defunding ICE, both candidates agreed that the agency needs to be reformed. Crockett said, "We absolutely have to clean house, whatever that looks like, I am willing to do it. " Talarico said, "It’s time to tear down this secret police force and replace it with an agency that actually is going to focus on public safety. " Both candidates also have different views on impeaching Trump. Crockett thinks that Trump should be impeached for his unlawful use of tariffs. Talarico, on the other hand, would not go as far as calling for the president's impeachment, but he believes that the actions of his administration should come under review.
