You might know the Wiggles as a supergroup of kids’ entertainers from Australia. They’ve been around since 1991, creating fun songs and shows that have become a staple in preschool entertainment. With over two billion music streams and three billion YouTube views, the Wiggles have made a massive impact. Now, they’re taking their brand to the next level by partnering with Sinking Ship Entertainment to create an animated series.
“We’ve been thinking about this for a while, ” says Luke O’Neill, the CEO of the Wiggles. “An animated series can help us reach kids in new ways. ” Sinking Ship Entertainment, who is joining forces with the Wiggles, is excited about the potential. Carla de Jong, the head of co-production there, explains, “The Wiggles understand their audience really well and keep evolving to meet their needs. ” She believes that animation will open up even more creative possibilities for the Wiggles.
The Wiggles have already done a lot, from music albums and books to YouTube channels and even techno music for adults. Their shows can be found on multiple streaming platforms like Peacock and Prime Video. Recently, they’ve also started a podcast called “Wiggle Talk” for parents and collaborated with other kids’ brands. Next summer, they’re even going on an international tour called the Bouncing Balls tour.
