Yesterday was a big day for high school sports in the area. Let's start with boys soccer, where Cathedral crushed Melrose 5-1. Jacob Oliver was on fire, scoring three goals for the Crusaders. Mason Layne and Matt Primus also found the net. The undefeated team will take on Minnewaska tomorrow at Whitney Field. There were plenty of other games happening too. Moorhead visited Tech, while Sauk Rapids-Rice faced off against Sartell-St. Stephen. ROCORI was in Brainerd and Little Falls went to Melrose. St. John's Prep played Central Minnesota Christian.
Now let’s switch over to girls soccer. Sartell-St. Stephen traveled to Sauk Rapids-Rice, while Brainerd visited ROCORI. Apollo was in Willmar and Cathedral faced Providence Academy. Albany hosted St. John's Prep, and Melrose headed to Little Falls. Volleyball fans also had a busy day. ROCORI played at Alexandria, Sauk Rapids-Rice visited Willmar, and Pierz went to Cathedral. There were matches all over the place, from Foley at Albany to Big Lake at Orono. Even Litchfield was in action against Watertown-Mayer. All these games show just how much sports bring our communities together. Whether you’re rooting for your favorite team or just enjoying a good game, high school sports are a great way to connect with people and have fun.
