AsiaWed Apr 01 2026
People often debate which airlines give the best entertainment while you’re up in the sky. The 2025 Skytrax awards highlighted five carriers that really stand out. These airlines offer huge libraries of movies, shows, music, games, and even live sports, plus varying Wi‑Fi plans that can keep you connected.
First up is Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong. Their system, called ICE, has over 4, 500 hours of content and a mix of Hollywood, Asian, and local titles. The airline also gives free Wi‑Fi to its elite members and top‑class passengers, while other travelers pay a fee that climbs with flight length. Cathay’s fleet includes both narrow‑body and wide‑body jets, such as the A330 and 777 families.
Next is Emirates in Dubai. Known for flying many of the world’s biggest aircraft, Emirates offers a vast library—over 6, 500 titles—and now partners with Spotify for endless music and podcasts. The airline is rolling out free Starlink satellite internet on its planes, starting with the 777s and soon the A380s. Until then, Wi‑Fi is still a paid service.
Qatar Airways takes third place. Their Oryx One system has thousands of on‑demand items, from Hollywood blockbusters to Indian and African films. Qatar provides free Wi‑Fi for all passengers on its wide‑body aircraft, thanks to a partnership with Starlink that delivers speeds up to 500 Mbps. The airline is also one of the first in the Middle East to launch satellite‑based internet on board.
Singapore Airlines ranks fourth. Their KrisWorld platform offers almost 2, 000 movies and shows, plus live sports streams like the Premier League. Wi‑Fi is free for first‑class and business passengers, as well as KrisFlyer members in premium economy. For others, the airline charges a flat fee for a full flight or hourly rates.
Finally, Turkish Airlines comes in fifth. Their “Planet” system covers a wide range of genres and includes both new releases and classics from around the world. Turkish offers free internet for business class and loyalty members, while other passengers can buy unlimited data packages ranging from $3 to $25 depending on flight duration.
These airlines show that a great in‑flight experience goes beyond just a good seat. It’s about a rich mix of content, fast internet, and thoughtful pricing that keeps travelers entertained and connected.
