Tornado Near Shopping Plaza Sends Metal Rubbish Flying

A sudden storm hit a small town in southwest Michigan, turning a quiet shopping area into a chaotic scene of flying debris. A worker at a local phone store started recording as metal sheets, insulation and other junk were hurled through the air. The tornado ripped roofs off nearby buildings and scattered large pieces across the street. The incident began when people were getting haircuts at a nearby salon. A woman received a warning about an approaching tornado and urged everyone to seek shelter inside the store. The employee, who was also filming, locked the door as wind grew stronger and then started his video at the moment the first objects began to hit the plaza.The footage shows sheets of metal up to ten feet long, along with buckets and foam, all coming from big-box stores such as Meijer and Menards. The tornado moved through an intersection just a few hundred yards from the shop, cutting a path that left many vehicles and storefronts damaged. At first, the observer thought the event was harmless. But as debris struck windows and slammed against cars, a sense of danger took over. He recalled hearing the sound of metal hitting glass and realizing that this was no mere prank. The aftermath captured on his phone includes large pieces of roofing, overturned dumpsters and several broken vehicles. He warns viewers that watching from a screen can feel less frightening than standing in the midst of such a storm. The experience turned from curiosity into a stark reminder that tornadoes are serious threats and should not be approached or filmed recklessly.
