Train Collision Near Bedford Leaves Nine in Critical Condition

A crash involving two passenger trains near Bedford, about 60 miles north of London, left nine people in life‑threatening injuries and claimed the life of one driver.
The incident happened at roughly 5:15 p. m. local time on Friday when the fronts of the two trains smashed together, while the bodies stayed upright.
A passenger’s video on social media shows the twisted front of one train caught in the rear of the other, giving a clear picture of the impact.
British Transport Police Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi reported that more than 80 passengers were treated at hospitals the night of the accident.
Today, she confirmed that 28 patients remain in hospital care and nine are listed as critical.
Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the collision, and no definitive explanation has been released yet.
