A judge in Denver decided a transgender volleyball player from San Jose State can play in the Mountain West Conference tournament this week. Some team players sued, saying it's unfair and dangerous. The judge didn't agree and said the rules haven't changed. San Jose State is excited to compete. The other teams have to follow the rules or forfeit games. The conference is happy with the judge's decision. The tournament starts soon with Colorado State as the top seed and San Jose State as the second. Teams that didn't play against San Jose State this season lost in the rankings.
Boise State and Wyoming lost two games each. Utah State and Nevada lost one game each. San Jose State's coach said there's been hate mail against the team. One of the suing players says the trans player hit the ball harder than others, causing safety concerns. A separate lawsuit is also happening against the NCAA for similar reasons. The judge said the law doesn't support an injunction. Republicans support the team cancellations to keep women's sports fair.
