A group of nine U. S. politicians recently sent a letter to the Pentagon. They want the defense department to add more Chinese tech companies to a special list. This list includes companies that the U. S. believes help China's military.
The politicians want to add companies like DeepSeek, Xiaomi, and BOE Technology Group to this list. DeepSeek is an AI company. Xiaomi makes smartphones. BOE Technology Group makes electronic displays. The list already has big names like Tencent and CATL.
Being on this list doesn't mean the companies are officially punished. But it tells U. S. government agencies to be careful about working with them. Some companies on the list have even sued the U. S. because of this.
The politicians also want to add other companies like WuXi AppTec, GenScript Group, and RoboSense. They believe these companies should not be part of the U. S. supply chain by 2030.
The letter was sent after President Trump signed a big military spending bill. Trump has also ordered the Defense Department to change its name to the Department of War. This change needs approval from Congress.
In June, a U. S. official said DeepSeek helps China's military and avoids U. S. export rules. BOE, which supplies parts to Apple, is also on the list of companies the U. S. wants to cut ties with.
The politicians who signed the letter are all Republicans. They include leaders of important congressional committees.
