For the first time, Ukraine has used British-made Storm Shadow missiles to strike targets in Russia, reports say. This news came a day after Ukraine fired American ATACMS missiles into Russian territory. The use of these missiles was confirmed by a UK official but not by Ukraine's defense minister, Rustem Umerov, who said Ukraine is using all means to defend itself. A Russian military blog posted photos of a Storm Shadow missile fragment, claiming up to 12 missiles were fired at the Kursk region.
The UK and France had earlier supplied these long-range missiles to Ukraine for use within its borders. The missiles have a range of about 250 kilometers and are powerful enough to penetrate bunkers. This attack follows the previous day's strike using US missiles, which hit an ammunition depot in Bryansk. The Russian Ministry of Defense claims to have shot down some of the missiles, but the Ukrainian attack still damaged the depot.
