Ukrainian Drone Strikes Yekaterinburg Apartment Tower
Yekaterinburg, RussiaSun Apr 26 2026
A Ukrainian drone hit a high‑rise building in Yekaterinburg, Russia’s fourth‑largest city, according to the regional governor. This is the first time a Ukrainian aircraft has struck the city since the war began. No one died, but several people were hurt and a woman had to go to hospital. The governor said the residents were moved out quickly and emergency teams are on the scene.
Video posted on X shows smoke coming from the top of the tower, with part of its exterior scorched and many windows blown out. The clip was confirmed by Reuters. Ukraine has not responded to the incident.
Yekaterinburg, home to about 1. 5 million people, sits in the Ural mountains and hosts many defense factories. The city lies more than 1, 200 miles from Kyiv. Since the war started in 2022, Russia has bombed Ukrainian targets while Ukraine has carried out drone attacks inside Russian territory.
