Reading is buzzing with special holiday events this season. Let's dive into what's happening.
First up, Renewed Spirit Church is hosting a German Christmas service. It's happening on December 21st at 11 a. m. The Reading Liederkranz Chorus will be there, led by Mark Herr. They've been singing together since 1885. That's a long time! Herr is also a music professor. The service will be broadcast live on WEEU-AM 830.
Lincoln Park Community United Methodist Church has a Blue Christmas service. It's on Sunday at 3 p. m. The theme is hope and healing, inspired by "A Charlie Brown Christmas. " There will be music and light refreshments after. They also have a special Christmas Choral and Bell presentation at 11 a. m.
Good Samaritan Church of God is hosting a dinner and fellowship. It's on Sunday from 3:30-6 p. m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You need to RSVP to Veda at 484-650-8413.
Christ Lutheran Church has a busy Sunday planned. They have Coffee and Conversation at 8:30 and 10 a. m. Then, there's a Christmas Open House from 3-6 p. m. There will be carols, tours, cookies, and even a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Zion’s Lutheran Church is showing off over 300 Nativity sets. It's on Saturday from noon-3 p. m. There will also be a tree with 50 Nativity ornaments. They're accepting donations for Lutheran Domestic Disaster Response.
Zion Moselem Lutheran Church has a free Christmas open house today. It starts at 2 p. m. There will be seasonal decorations, Santa, barrel rides, and live music. Light refreshments will be served.
St. John’s Gernant’s Church has a worship service on Sunday at 9 a. m. After that, there's a congregational meeting and fellowship. They're collecting peanut butter and cereal for the Schuylkill Valley Food Bank.
Salem Lutheran Church has a guest pastor, Rev. Barry Spatz, on Sunday at 9:30 a. m. There will be a social time after the service.
Zion Lutheran Church in Womelsdorf has a Christmas Cookie Sale today. It's from 9 a. m. -noon or until sold out. They also have a free movie night featuring “The Polar Express” today at 5:30 p. m.
Trinity Lutheran Church in Bechtelsville has a concert by LaRue C. Sheetz on Sunday at 10 a. m. There will be a potluck luncheon after. There's also an encore performance on January 4th at 3 p. m.
Friedens United Church of Christ has a guest organist, Kristen Diehl, on Sunday at 10:15 a. m. The children will present “A Christmas Surprise” story. The choir will sing at Maidencreek Church at 9 a. m.
