Hong Kong, ChinaWed Mar 18 2026
FilMart in Hong Kong is buzzing with fresh Asian film projects, particularly from Korea and Vietnam. Among the highlights is Mr. Shota's Last Business Trip, a Korea-Japan collaboration. The drama follows two strangers in Japan—a tired office worker and a young Korean traveler—who bond over delivering unsent letters to each other. Their accidental pact leads them into deeper emotional territory, exploring themes of regret and connection. Korean actor Jin-young, known for his roles in rom-coms and TV shows, teams up with Japanese star Otani Ryohei for this project.
Another major release is Wild Sing, a K-pop comedy about a disbanded group trying to make a comeback. Directed by Son Jae-gon, the film reunites former members of a once-popular band now working regular jobs. Their attempt to revive their music careers takes unexpected turns, blending humor with the struggles of fame. Leading the cast is Gang Dong-won, with Um Tae-goo, Park Ji-hyun, and Oh Jung-se completing the ensemble.
Vietnam is making a strong showing with three films. Blood Moon Feast 8 follows a filmmaker who takes a risky one-take livestream job to reconnect with his estranged daughter, only to face horror and chaos. Double Couple Trouble dives into family drama when a wedding planner uncovers a decade-old secret between the bride and groom just days before the ceremony. Meanwhile, Bus explores supernatural themes, focusing on a ghost who discovers a dark truth about her own death and its connection to a living man she loves.
A different kind of film, Blue Archive: The Orchestra in Cinema, is a concert movie capturing live performances from Seoul’s Olympic Hall. Directed by Jo Yoon-soo, it’s already out in Korea and brings a musical experience to the big screen.
