Hello, Utah! Today is Thursday, and the weather is pretty calm across the state. There's a high-pressure system hanging around, keeping things peaceful. But don't get too comfortable, because changes are on the way. A storm is brewing in California and is expected to move inland. This will bring some winds our way and shift them to the south. As the storm splits, it'll bring some snow to the mountains, especially the Upper Cottonwoods. We could see 4 to 8 inches there, while other mountain areas might get 2 to 4 inches.
In the valleys, expect some rain that could turn into snow early Saturday morning. We might see up to an inch. By Saturday afternoon, the snow should taper off, and temperatures will drop to about 10 degrees below normal. Sunday will give us a short break, but it'll still be cool. Then, another cold system is expected to roll in, bringing more snow, especially to northern Utah. But don't worry too much, as the snowfall is likely to be light due to limited moisture. Southern Utah might even escape the chill, depending on how the system tracks.
