Metro Detroit is in for a treat this week with temperatures soaring well above average. Monday saw temperatures in the mid-60s, which is about 20 degrees higher than usual for this time of year. This warm spell is a bit of a tease, as temperatures typically this high are more common in late April or early May. The weather will start to cool down a bit on Tuesday, but it will still be warmer than usual. Expect highs in the mid-50s in most of Metro Detroit, but areas like Flint and the Thumb will see highs near 50 degrees. The winds will shift from southwesterly in the morning to northerly in the afternoon, blowing at 10 to 15 mph. Tuesday night will bring partly cloudy skies and lows ranging from the mid-20s to 30 degrees. Wednesday will be a mix of sunshine and clouds, with highs in the mid-40s, which is more typical for this time of year. Clouds will build up for Wednesday night, with lows in the lower to mid-30s.
Thursday will see a return of sunshine, with temperatures reaching the upper 50s. Nighttime temperatures will drop to around 40 degrees. Friday will be even warmer, with highs in the mid- to upper 60s. It will be partly cloudy during the day and mostly cloudy at night, with lows in the lower to mid-50s. Saturday will be mild but rainy and windy. Highs will be in the upper 60s to 70 degrees, with lows in the mid-40s. Sunday will be cooler, with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the lower 30s. St. Patrick's Day, which falls on the following Monday, will have a mix of sunshine and clouds. Temperatures will top out in the mid-40s to 50 degrees. This warm weather is a preview of what's to come, as spring is just around the corner. In the Northern Hemisphere, the equinox will occur at 5:01 a. m. on Thursday, March 20.
