West Coast Braces for Wet and Wild Christmas Week

Northern California is expected to get the brunt of the rain, with some areas seeing 10 to 15 inches. Flooding and mudslides are serious risks, especially in low-lying and urban areas.Southern California won't escape either. Rain is likely to start as early as Dec. 23, with heavy downpours expected around Christmas. This could ruin outdoor holiday plans in places like Los Angeles and San Diego. Meanwhile, the Sierra Nevada mountains are in for a snow dump. Ski lovers might rejoice, but holiday travelers could face delays. The snow will also help with water runoff in the spring, which is good news after a dry start to the season.
