Western New York is bracing for a rough few days. High winds are already causing problems, and more trouble is on the way.
The wind is the main issue right now. It's strongest near Rochester and areas to the west. Gusts could hit 60-70 mph during late morning and early afternoon. Even after that peak, the wind will stay strong, with gusts up to 55 mph through the evening.
Snow is also part of the mix. Starting Monday night, lake effect snow will hit some areas. This means certain spots will get much more snow than others. Some places could see 4-8 inches, especially in northeastern Monroe County and parts of Wayne County.
The wind won't let up soon. It will keep blowing snow around, making travel tricky. Temperatures will stay low, so the snow will be light and powdery. This means it will blow around easily, reducing visibility, especially in open areas.
Staying informed is key. Keep an eye on weather updates to know what's coming next.
