In the final stretch of the presidential campaign, candidates often push their concluding messages to capture undecided voters. Kamala Harris made her pitch on Tuesday, contrasting herself with Donald Trump. While Harris aims to be a regular Democrat president, Trump has other plans. The Trump campaign took a unique approach when Howard Lutnick, a finance industry CEO on Trump's transition team, hinted that if elected, Trump would give anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. access to government data. This could potentially lead to Kennedy removing vaccines from the market. Kennedy has long claimed, based on discredited evidence, that vaccines cause autism. His involvement in an anti-vaccination campaign in American Samoa resulted in 83 deaths, mostly young children, from measles.
During an event with Tucker Carlson, Trump announced that Kennedy would work on health and women's health issues. This announcement raises concerns due to Kennedy’s past. Decade-old reports reveal diaries documenting him cheating on his wife 37 times in one year. Recent accusations involve alleged inappropriate behavior with a journalist and a nanny. Kennedy denies some allegations but has apologized for others, attributing his behavior to his “rambunctious youth. ”
Trump also made controversial comments about former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, who opposed his re-election after the Capitol riots. Trump suggested she should face a firing squad, implying that her support for the Iraq war makes her a “chickenhawk. ”
Harris’s campaign focuses on undecided moderate women, hoping to gain their support. Trump's campaign, on the other hand, appears to have an unconventional strategy for appealing to this group.
