The internet had a rough Monday. Amazon's cloud service, AWS, had some big problems. This caused trouble for many online platforms, including Coinbase and Robinhood. Coinbase said their services were back up, but some old transactions were still stuck. Robinhood also said they were having issues because of AWS. They promised to fix things quickly. But it's not clear which parts of Robinhood are still not working right.
Thousands of people reported problems with Coinbase and Robinhood. This was seen on a website that tracks outages. The goal of crypto developers is to make a decentralized internet. This means no single company controls everything. But Monday's outage shows that many crypto services still rely on big tech companies like Amazon.
This isn't the first time AWS problems have caused issues. In April, similar problems affected Binance and Kucoin. Binance even stopped withdrawals for a short time. AWS said their data center in Virginia was still having problems. But they also said they were seeing early signs of recovery.
The idea of a decentralized internet is to avoid relying on one big company. But for now, many crypto services still depend on these companies. This shows how far we still have to go to make the internet truly decentralized.
