Why Did Andy Kim Wear That Tie?

Rep. Andy Kim, a Democrat from New Jersey, was accused by a Trump delegate named Mike Crispi of wearing a North Korean flag on his tie during a Senate debate. This happened because Kim's tie had red, white, and blue stripes, similar to the North Korean flag. Kim, who is Asian American, explained that he wore the tie because it matched his blue suit. He bought the tie 20 years ago when he graduated from college. Crispi, however, insisted that Kim chose the tie to show his allegiance to other countries, not the U.S. He even posted a video on social media questioning Kim's loyalty. Kim called Crispi's comments "disgusting" and "xenophobic. " He shared stories of other Asian American candidates facing racist attacks. Kim's Republican opponent, Curtis Bashaw, condemned Crispi's accusations and called Kim a patriotic American.
