Former President Donald Trump recently held a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, but his attempt to revisit the site of his last tour didn't impress voters who could swing either way. An analysis by Impact Social looked at online discussions from October 5 and 6, with over 37,000 posts mentioning Trump. The findings? Most people weren't excited about his speech.
Impact Social found that 82% of posts had either a negative or neutral view of Trump. Only 8% showed positive feelings. So, what's the issue? Well, many people think Trump doesn't have anything new to say. His rally topics like immigration, voter fraud, and his legal battles didn't capture the audience's attention. In fact, people started leaving the rally after he had spoken for an hour.
Independent voters, in particular, weren't swept off their feet. They commented that Trump and his supporters might be telling tall tales to win votes. Some even thought he would try to win Pennsylvania and Georgia by any means necessary. However, not all were against him—some posts showed support for Trump and his views.
But who are these independent voters? They tend to be younger, with many from Generation Z and millennials. Top issues for them include the economy and reducing crime. According to a poll in Minnesota, independents might decide the election there. In other swing states, they're leaning more toward Democrats.
So, what's Trump's strategy? He might be counting on his supporters turning out in large numbers. But with not much new in his speeches, he could be hoping for events to favor his campaign.
