Boulder County will face a red flag warning from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. Friday, meaning conditions could make any fire spread quickly. The National Weather Service says the main danger is wind and low humidity.
Wind speeds are expected to stay between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph in lower elevations. Humidity could drop to just 8 percent, which dries out vegetation and fuels fires.
Because of these conditions, the county has issued Stage 1 burn restrictions. That means no open or agricultural burning is allowed anywhere in the area.
The warning covers elevations below 6, 000 feet. If a fire starts there, the wind could push it fast and wide.
County officials urge residents to check on any potential ignition sources. Even small sparks can become huge flames when the air is dry and the wind blows.
Stay alert, follow local rules, and help keep the area safe. Fire danger can change quickly, so keep updated through official channels.
