The Xbox app is getting a big upgrade. It now lets you launch games from other stores like Steam and Epic Games. This means you can find and start all your games in one place. Before, only Xbox Insiders could use this feature. Now, everyone can see their games from different stores in the app. You can even launch them directly from there. The app also shows your recently played games in a side tab. There's a new tab for apps too. You can open other stores and browsers to install games. If you don't want games from certain stores to show up, you can turn them off in the settings.
This update comes just before the launch of the ROG Xbox Ally handheld device. Users of this device will be able to play games from different stores using the app. Plus, an upcoming update will sync your cloud games and play history across all your devices. Other apps like GOG Galaxy and Playnite already do this. But Xbox is focusing on making it work smoothly across different devices. The app also supports controllers, so you can launch games with a gamepad. There are some limits though. The app doesn't show cover art or details for non-Xbox games. When you select a game, you only see a play button and a link to the store. But it's still a big step for Xbox.
