XRP’s Future Hinges on a New Law, Not Charts
United States, USASun Apr 19 2026
"The price of XRP has climbed about 8 % in the last week, but it still sits roughly 61 % below its July high of $3. 65, trading near $1. 43 today. While the coin itself has struggled, a group of U. S. spot ETFs focused on XRP have attracted more than $1. 44 billion in new money since their launch in late 2025. Seven funds together manage close to $1 billion, a drop from January’s peak of $1. 65 billion mainly because the token’s price fell rather than investors pulling out cash. Notably, these ETFs recorded 35 consecutive trading days with no net withdrawals—a streak unmatched by early Bitcoin or Ethereum spot funds.
Who owns these ETFs? Canary Capital’s XRPC leads with $260 million, followed by Bitwise ($257 million) and Franklin Templeton’s XRPZ ($211 million). Goldman Sachs holds about $154 million across four funds. Yet 84 % of the assets remain in retail hands, meaning institutional interest is still limited. A survey by Coinbase and EY-Parthenon found that 18 % of 351 institutional investors already hold XRP, with another 25 % planning to invest in 2026. Whether these plans materialize depends largely on upcoming U. S. legislation.
The CLARITY Act, passed by the House in July 2025 but stalled in the Senate, seeks to create a clear regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies. Its fate is critical because the SEC and CFTC’s March 17 classification of XRP as a “digital commodity” is interpretive and could be overturned. Pension funds, endowments, and sovereign wealth funds often shy away from assets lacking firm legal status. If the bill moves forward in April, it could spark institutional buying and lift XRP’s price; if delayed until 2027, the token would likely stay below key technical levels without a strong catalyst.
Given this uncertainty, the asset’s outlook is mixed. The influx of retail money into ETFs is real but modest compared to a $10 billion scale that would shift market dynamics. The current position is neither a clear buy nor an outright sell; it remains a hold for cautious investors. "
