Ye, the artist once known as Kanye West, has announced that his new album, Bully, will hit the shelves on March 20. This is his 12th studio album, and it's coming out under a new deal with Gamma, an independent music company. The album has been in the works for over three years, with Ye even releasing a short film to go with it back in March 2025. The film was edited by Hype Williams and starred his son, Saint West.
The album's release date comes after Ye made headlines with a public apology in the Wall Street Journal. In this open letter, he addressed his past antisemitic remarks, his struggle with bipolar disorder, and his controversial actions, like selling swastika merchandise. He also talked about letting down the Black community. However, he didn't mention the legal troubles he's currently facing, like a lawsuit from his former assistant.
In a press release, Ye describes Bully as a journey through his internal struggles with remorse, memory, ego, faith, and consequence. He makes it clear that the album isn't an apology or a bid for redemption. Instead, it's a way for him to tell his story through music, not as a defense mechanism.
This isn't Ye's first time making waves in the music industry. His last solo album, Donda 2, was released in 2022 through the Stem Player, a device he created. It was later edited and re-released in 2025 under his brand, YZY. Ye also paid for the ad space in the Wall Street Journal, showing his commitment to getting his message out there.
