A 22‑year‑old man from North Charleston is now in court on several serious accusations. Police say he deliberately hit another car with the goal of harming its passengers. The incident happened early Friday on International Boulevard.
The driver, named Joseph Gordon Jr. , was arrested after officers heard him claim he wanted to kill the other vehicle’s occupants. He was visibly upset, crying and acting oddly during the interview. When his sister called him later, she could not confirm his story about a deceased child; the video showed the child alive.
While searching Gordon’s car, officers smelled marijuana and found a blunt. They also discovered a small bag with pills that tested positive for MDMA and fentanyl, about 3. 5 grams of weed in a sealed bag, a gun, and two magazines.
The victim’s driver asked the police to press charges. Gordon was first placed in emergency protective custody, then booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center after warrants were issued.
The case now moves forward with charges that include attempted murder, drug trafficking, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and driving while suspended. The court will decide the next steps.
