Local Hero Thanks Lifesaving Stroke Team

A woman from Long Island fell ill in August 2025. She collapsed on her bathroom floor. She was alone at home when the incident happened. Her daughter found her after about two hours and called emergency services. The quick call got help fast.

She was rushed to Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital. Doctors used a special biplane imaging system to see the blockage. They performed a mechanical thrombectomy to pull the clot out of her brain. The clot was blocking a major artery that supplies the brain. The procedure restored blood flow and saved her life.

The hospital has added three neurovascular surgeons and a new biplane suite. These upgrades let the team work any time, day or night. The new equipment makes stroke care faster and more reliable.

On Thursday she met the doctors who treated her. She thanked them, saying they truly saved her life. She feels able to enjoy important moments again. The team says stories like this show why they do their work.
