Local High School Athletes Shine Bright in December

High school sports in the Cincinnati area have been heating up, with standout performances across various teams and individuals. Football, basketball, bowling, swimming, gymnastics, and wrestling have all seen impressive achievements.
In football, Jake Britt from St. Xavier made a notable impact in the Division I state final, even though his team faced a tough 28-14 loss to Olentangy Orange. His contributions included rushing for 48 yards, scoring a 39-yard touchdown, and making three tackles on defense.
Basketball teams have also been making waves. The Loveland Tigers dominated their match against West Clermont with a 78-41 victory. Meanwhile, the East Clinton boys basketball team secured back-to-back wins, improving their record to 3-0. The Scott Eagles also had a strong week with two home wins.
On the girls' side, the West Clermont team started the season strong with a 3-0 record after lopsided victories. The Ursuline Academy girls basketball team also showed their skills with two conference wins. The Bellevue Tigers are unbeaten with wins against Robertson County, St. Patrick, and Dayton.
Bowling teams have been rolling strikes as well. The Blanchester boys bowling team is undefeated, and Randy Eckman had a perfect game of 300. The Lebanon girls swimming team took first place at the Mason Invitational with 369 team points.
Individual athletes have also shone brightly. Chase Martin from Loveland had an outstanding game with 37 points and 10 rebounds. Tahirou Sibby from DePaul Cristo Rey scored 43 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a win. Anna Proano-Raps from Loveland made a game-winning 3-pointer in overtime to secure a victory for her team.
In swimming, Jack Clark from Clinton-Massie won the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events at Mason. Elise Razzano from Ursuline Academy took second place in the 100-yard freestyle and helped her relays to top finishes.
Wrestling has seen some impressive performances too. Malachi Jackson from Reading won the 157-pound bracket at the Franklin Invitational, going undefeated with a pair of tech falls. Eleanor Polking from Oak Hills was the 130-pound champion at the Hammer and Anvil, showcasing her skills with three pins and two tech falls.
