Local Schools' Sports Scores for Tuesday: What You Need to Know!

Tuesday was a big day for high school sports in the area. Let's dive into the hockey and basketball action that unfolded.
Starting with boys' hockey, Sauk Rapids-Rice had a great showing, defeating Fergus Falls 6-1. Cathedral also had a solid win over Alexandria, with Joey Gillespie scoring the game-winner and Griffin Sturm netting two goals. They'll face Rock Ridge next. St. Cloud Crush and River Lakes ended in a tie, 2-2, after overtime.
Girls' hockey saw Fergus Falls shut out Sartell-Sauk Rapids 2-0, while River Lakes dominated St. Cloud Crush 7-2. The Crush will host Willmar in their next game.
In boys' basketball, Sauk Rapids-Rice edged out Alexandria 81-76. Apollo and Brainerd also had impressive wins, with scores of 90-68 over Detroit Lakes and 80-41 over Tech, respectively. Several other teams had victories, including Sartell-St. Stephen, Fergus Falls, Kimball, Albany, and Upsala.
Girls' basketball had some exciting matches too. Pequot Lakes defeated Cathedral 54-43, with Sophia Sinclair and Ellie Voth leading the scoring for the Crusaders. North Branch had a significant win over Sauk Rapids-Rice, 80-29. Other notable wins came from Annandale, Little Falls, BBE, Milaca, ACGC, Melrose, Holdingford, and Sauk Centre.
These scores highlight the talent and hard work of these young athletes. They'll continue to compete and improve throughout the season.
