Local Sports Stars Shine in Week 8

The fall sports season is heating up in southwest Missouri, and athletes are stepping up their game. With only a few weeks left, every performance counts. Fans recently voted Forsyth's TaMarkus Holmes as the top athlete for Week 7, with a majority of the votes. But Week 8 brought even more standout performances.

Football

  • Jax Adams from Nixa had a strong game with 92 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
  • Jayden McCaster was unstoppable, rushing for 235 yards and three touchdowns.
  • K’Viyon Conway from Forsyth had an exceptional game with 216 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
  • Quarterback Chris Halbrook also shone, throwing for 221 yards and three touchdowns.

Volleyball

  • Millie Bauer from Logan-Rogersville had a stellar performance with 28 kills.
  • Reese Finley helped Republic volleyball come back and win with 26 assists.

Softball

  • Miah Johnson from Nixa set a new single-season home run record with her 24th home run of the season.

Swimming

  • Carson Butler from Glendale won two individual events and set new records in both.

  • Preston McCracken from Republic had a big game with 261 total yards and three touchdowns.
  • Traevian McCadney from Joplin led his team with 101 yards and three touchdowns.
