Local Teams Shine in Wrestling and Basketball Tournaments

In a recent wrestling tournament, Johnsburg boys wrestling team secured the second spot. They scored 156 points, just behind Glenbrook South, who won with 224 points. Crystal Lake South also did well, placing third with 144. 5 points. Johnsburg had some standout wrestlers. Kainoa Ancog won the 157-pound title. Chase Vogel, Chase Davis, Duke Mays, and Jackson Hjorth all finished as runners-up in their respective weight classes. Crystal Lake South had three winners: Logan Aarseth at 113 pounds, Nathan Randle at 144 pounds, and Aiden Marrello at 165 pounds. Cary-Grove's Jacob Turner and Leo Zavala both took third place in their weight classes. Harvard's Liam Parker won the 106-pound title, and Brennan Peters finished third at 165 pounds. Woodstock North's David Randecker also took third place at 190 pounds. In boys basketball, McHenry Warriors had a big win against Mundelein. Adam Anwar scored 23 points, leading the team to a 62-32 victory. Nathan Ottaway and Blake Renfro also contributed with 13 and 10 points respectively. Burlington Central Rockets won against Rochelle, scoring 63-53. This win placed them third in the Sycamore Strombom Tournament. Girls basketball also saw some action, but details were not provided.
