Local teens shine as final sports awards are announced
Cincinnati, Ohio, USASat Jun 20 2026
This week marked the last set of Athletes of the Week for the 2025-2026 high school sports season in Cincinnati. Readers voted online until June 19 for their favorite performances. Winners can now grab their certificates and add their photos to an online showcase.
The voting covered high school sports up to June 14. Winners will find their certificates ready to print every Monday morning. Families just visit a public link to download a PDF version.
Among the honorees is a baseball team that made history by ending a title drought. Badin High School clinched the Division III state baseball championship with a 7-1 victory over Bishop Watterson. This was their first state title in 30 years.
One standout player helped lead the team. Cade Cummins, a senior, drove in five runs in two critical games. In the semifinals he went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Then in the final he turned two game-changing double plays in a 7-2 win.
Digital certificates now replace mailed copies due to past delays. Families can download their award papers each Monday. They can then send in a photo to be part of a shared gallery.
