Local teens shine in weekly sports awards

Every week, high school athletes in the Cincinnati area get a chance to show off their hard work and talent through a public vote. This time around, winners came from baseball, lacrosse, and track teams. Some athletes didn’t just win their games—they set new personal records, school records, or even state records. The recognition comes with a digital certificate, which families can print at home. Winners also get the chance to be featured in a photo gallery if they share a picture with their certificate. Baseball teams from different size divisions made it to the top this week. A big-school team from Ohio called Anderson advanced to the regional championship after a close 2-1 win. A smaller school, Fenwick, secured their spot in the state tournament with two big wins. Over in Northern Kentucky and Indiana, Campbell County also made progress in their tournament before a tough loss. Loveland’s girls track team also had a standout week, with one athlete winning three events in a single day. Relay teams from both schools set new records, showing how dedication can push boundaries. Lacrosse players got some well-deserved attention too. Mariemont’s boys team won their semifinal match, with one player scoring three goals. The girls’ team fought hard in a narrow loss but still had a player who scored five goals. These athletes showed heart and skill, even when the outcome wasn’t perfect. The awards program has changed how it delivers certificates. Instead of mailing them to schools, families now get a digital copy the Monday after the vote. This makes it easier for everyone to celebrate their athlete’s achievements. Winners can even send in a photo to be featured online.
