Longhorns' Comeback: How Texas Overcame Early Struggles to Beat Oklahoma
Dallas, USASun Oct 13 2024
The Texas Longhorns had a rough start in their game against the Oklahoma Sooners. Quarterback Quinn Ewers, returning after an abdominal strain, completed just three out of five passes for 13 yards and threw an interception in the first quarter. But the Longhorns didn't let that shake them. Their running game, led by Quintrevion Wisner, picked up steam, rushing for 177 yards in the last three quarters. This gave Ewers time to find his rhythm, which he did in the second quarter.
Texas turned the game around with some lucky breaks and solid defense. A fumble by Wisner ended up in a touchdown for the Longhorns, and they recovered two more fumbles at the end of the second quarter, boosting their lead. Oklahoma's offense was stifled by the Longhorns' defense, managing only three points and 107 yards in the first half. Their quarterback, Michael Hawkins Jr. , struggled under pressure.
The Longhorns' ability to adjust and bounce back from their early struggles was crucial. They showed resilience and talent, securing a 34-3 win against their rivals.
