Man Faces Animal Abuse Charges in Joliet
Joliet, USAFri Nov 15 2024
In Joliet, a man from the east side of town has been charged with animal cruelty by the Will County State's Attorney's Office. The suspect, Dezmon Greene, lives on the 500 block of Sehring Street. The charges came after an investigation by the Will County Sheriff's Office.
Police accuse Greene of mistreating two Cane Corso dogs, one male and one female. He's also facing six additional charges for not providing sufficient food and water. In total, Greene faces eight criminal counts. The alleged crimes took place on November 1.
This situation raises important questions about animal welfare and the responsibilities of pet owners. It's a reminder that pets depend on us for their basic needs.
Despite the seriousness of the charges, Greene won't be held in jail due to the SAFE-T-Act, which doesn't allow detention for these types of offenses.
