Actor Mark Hamill, known for his iconic role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, had to quickly evacuate his Malibu home due to the ongoing wildfires in L. A. Starting in Pacific Palisades, these fires have rapidly spread to Malibu and Santa Monica. Hamill shared on Instagram that he and his family left their home just in time, with small fires popping up on both sides of the road as they headed to the Pacific Coast Highway. They arrived at their daughter’s house in Hollywood around 8:15 p. m. , commenting that it was the worst fire since 1993. Hamill hoped others could stay safe, just like he and his family did.
Other celebrities like James Woods and Spencer Pratt, along with his wife Heidi Montag, took to social media to share their losses. Woods posted a video from his home in the Palisades moments before the fire alarms went off, expressing his heartache at losing everything. Pratt’s sister shared a photo of him amidst the flames, highlighting the devastation felt by many.
Actor Steve Guttenberg, also a resident of Pacific Palisades, described the scene as the most unbelievable fire he had ever seen. He witnessed people panicking, children crying, and bumper-to-bumper traffic making evacuation difficult. Guttenberg helped move cars to allow fire trucks through, hoping to keep the community safe.
The fires didn’t spare Palisades Charter High School, a popular location for Hollywood productions like Carrie, Savage Streets, and Freaky Friday. The school’s loss adds to the overall devastation caused by these wildfires.
